Akhil Dua, Founder & Chief Visionary Officer, shared his views on how he uses DeskAway

With DeskAway there's no excuse to not being efficient.: A Case Study

I am the founder of MarriageWise, an online matrimonial for people who are divorced, widowed, separated or marrying late in life.

Remarriage is still a taboo in large parts of our society and no structured solution exists to address the problem end to end.

We hope to change the way online dating and matchmaking is done in India by offering customers value added services such as background checks, compatibility based matchmaking, pre-marriage coaching and access to legal experts.

Our site will launch in mid March, until then you can check us out on Facebook.

Akhil Dua, Founder and Chief Visionary Officer at MarriageWise shared his views briefly on how his team uses DeskAway...

How are you using DeskAway and what value is it providing your team? Were you using any other tool or method before DeskAway?
1) Testing and training: Like any other startup we emphasize on speed and productivity with minimal resources. Initially we used DeskAway to work on our site design with a designer in America. Due to time difference we hardly spoke or exchanged emails. Currently we are building processes for reference and future training which will be stored in DeskAway.

2) Communicate with our vendors: We outsource all non core-competency activities. However it is important that these activities are completed on time as they add value to our end product. Our vendors have learnt to use DeskAway which streamlines our process by keeping every partner in the chain on the same platform. This will provide us efficiency once we go live.

We discovered DeskAway during the initial stages of our project and have been using it since.

Can you give a specific incident or example when DeskAway was really useful when managing or getting a project completed?
One of our team members had recently given birth and was looking to work from home. DeskAway allowed her to collaborate with the rest of us without the need to come into office. She is also able to check project statuses without having to attend any meetings.

Was there a learning curve associated with DeskAway? How did your team adapt to a new application?
No, the tool is pretty simple to understand and create with. Within an hour we were creating projects with milestones and assigning tasks.

What features does your team use the most?
We tend to use 'Task Lists' a lot since there are a ton of things that need to happen prior to going live. Many of our responsibilities are dependent on otherís tasks and we can plan our days/week better just by browsing through other teammates deadlines.

Are you emailing (sending tasks, attachments etc.) less because of DeskAway?
Absolutely. We emphasize a lot on documentation and being able to share them with the entire team. Instead of digging for a document in my computer every time a new vendor representative or a new team member requires it, I can easily direct them to DeskAway.

How has DeskAway helped in lowering project costs, profitability or improving efficiency? Can you provide us with an actual example at your workplace?
Usually not everyone in the team is able to be as productive as they would like. A team lead ends up spending a lot of time in coordinating processes, flows, metrics with its team members and then tracking changes that he/she has requested. With DeskAway there's no excuse to not being efficient.

Are there any other thoughts that you would want to share with us regarding our service, product etc.?
Keep up the good work!

Thanks Akhil and all the best to MarriageWise!/em>
